We have a bird!
Jason wanted a bird for his birthday this year we talked about it and decided it was something he could get.
I didn’t want to buy one from a store because there are so many pets out there that need new homes and guess what! My mother new a lady in Boone who rehabilitates birds whose owners didn’t want them anymore and adopts them out. All we had to do was interview with her and if she liked us she would let us take one home with us.
Meet Fred Astair-

Jason wanted a bird for his birthday this year we talked about it and decided it was something he could get.
I didn’t want to buy one from a store because there are so many pets out there that need new homes and guess what! My mother new a lady in Boone who rehabilitates birds whose owners didn’t want them anymore and adopts them out. All we had to do was interview with her and if she liked us she would let us take one home with us.
He is a green cheeked Conur parrot and is a little less than a year old.
When we got him he was called Bob Marley because he is supposed to bop his head along with the music, but since I don’t’ have any Bob Marley music I can’t test it.
To find out if a parrot is a girl or boy it takes DNA testing so Jason and I Rock, Paper, Scissor to see which he would be.
He’s a boy.
Over all he is a pretty good bird, but I think he is getting a bit spoiled because when I put him in his cage he fluffs up and sits in the corner with his back towards me and won’t “step up” on my finger.
OH! Today he was the worst! I had him at work but needed to leave my desk to I put him is his travel cage until I got back.
He must have had some kind of temper tantrum because he had managed to knock his water container off and in the food dish which caused his pellets to become a soggy nasty mess which he tromped through giving himself a full body mud treatment.
Disgusting!
Needless to say he stayed in his cage until lunch where I forced him into his first bath.
They are supposed to normally like to take baths but no one gave Fred the memo and has refused to bath himself getting more and more filthy as the days wore on.
I filled the bathtub with about an inch of water and also misted him with a spray bottle to induce the need to preen. It took a while but he did and now he is beautiful again.
You just missed it! He picked up a key on a ring and brought it to me!
He is so cute!

All the fun of children, but if it's bad, you can have it for dinner.

Lucky for Jason, you are so easy to please. If only I could get away with no more than picking up a key on a ring to get a young lady's attention and admiration! Dad
