The other day Jason and I were looking in a store in the mall, one of the kinds that sell stuff for Weddings and special events. It occured to me that we hadn't discussed what we were doing for his Dad for Fathers Day so I asked what Jason wanted to do- he didn't know.
So I suggested that we buy Bro. Heilpern a book I've been interested in reading and when he never reads it I can then read it.
The clerk said that was horrible but after explaining that Jason's parents don't actually use anything we've ever bought them. Instead they set it on the stairs for three months before Jim gets tired of looking at it and puts it in their room.
I bought Bro. Heilpern books three years ago (they had been listed on his wish list) and he has yet to read them. I bought Sis. Heilpern a frame and put the family photo into the frame for her, so all she had to do was pick a spot and leave it there long enough for Jim to get tired of seeing it there and hang it up with out her asking.
It's not hanging up and I haven't seen it since the move. Over a year ago.
SO any way, the other clerk suggested giving to a charity in their name which I like because someone somewhere is using the gift and because it offers me a chance to be annoying.
Which brings me to my point...which charity should we buy from?
I could get them some chickens for Africa, or Grin Kids, or what is really making me giggle...donate to an environmental group..hehehehe
I really want to do that one just because I'm tired of listening to his anti-environmental drival during dinner.
Or even better (although I can't seem to come up with anything I could say with a strait face to explain it) donate to the democratic fund.
That would be awsome!
what do you think?

My vote is for orphaned baby orangutans. I watched this great show on animal planet and was really touched.

The sanctuary, run by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS), rehabilitates rescued orphaned orangutans for release back into the wild. Check out the web site for more info.

Good suggestions, all of which are great ideas but definitely not the irritating donation ideas that would be a waste of an opportunity to actually do some good.
