Harry Potter opens this weekend! and then in three weeks The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardobe! I'm actually a little more excited to see The Lion the witch and the wardrobe, since it has been my all time favorite book (I have the 50th anniversary printing). They actually made a film in England about 10 years ago that Megan and I enjoyed watching- we thought Peter was SOOO cute! Now I look at the film and think "he's a baby!" which he basically was- I think he is supposed to be twelve?
I'm a proud Harry Potter geek, as well as a Narnia geek. A couple of months ago I got a call from Jason , he was at work and he and his co-workers were talking about the new movie and couldn't remember what the treats were called that the witch gave Edmond.
It took me three seconds to remember- Turkish Delights. It took me that long because I associate mince meats with giblits which I associate with the horrible experience of discovering the Thanksgiving turkey innards on a plate in the cubbord, and not as treats.
I have to say that I love to re-read the books but there is one that I just never really liked, (several other people have agreed with me) The Silver Chair. Read it once and just never really wanted to read it again-I've tried. I didn't even really like the movie either, dispite the fact that Dr. Who is in it.

Turkish delight is not mincemeat! It's a sugary, gooey candy.
Though when I was a kid reading the books, I always thought it was something like beef jerky.
i think the previous versions on narnia were much older (i watched them when i was a kid). they were actually tv shows produced by the BBC -- we may talking about different things.
I think your correct Josh- maybe produced in the mid 80's?
