I'm turning into my mother!

I think we have all had that moment when we realize that we are turning into our parents.
Mine came last Sat. while in Winn Dixie.
Jason, Katharine, Ron and I were all attending the 2nd chance Prom that night and Jason had just arrived. He had gone all out for this night because he LOVES prom. He was in a very nice tux, and had brought me an orchid corsage.
Well, a girl can not be upstaged by her man, so in the spirit of the night I went out and got my hair styled by a very nice lady in the salon- even though they were closing in 15 minutes. (Oh, that? That’s on sale- we just didn’t mark it.)
Then I went to pick up his boutonnières but the place had closed earlier –when I didn’t have a car at my disposal.
So, I went to Winn Dixie because I was pretty sure they sold things like that –which they do- but they were old and wilty looking and I was not going to put them on my spiffy looking date!
So I picked out a bunch of roses and helped myself to the Floral Dept. and created two boutonnières (one for Jason and one for Ron while I was at it) all I needed was scissors and floral tape.
A stocker noticed that I was behind the counter and asked if he could help me- it took him a minute to realize that I was telling him I was making boutonnières out of my roses.
As I was leaving the store I thought to myself that
1. I was very pleased with myself on my ingenuity
2. My boutonnières looked great.
3. This was exactly what my mother would have done!
Oh, the things my mother has taught me. I remember being dragged from bed to pick blackberries on the side of the road. I loved the cobbler from them but I hated getting up that early and people seeing me.
I remember being horrified when she would stop and walk up to people and asked them if she could cut seed pods from their garden. That one always prompted a seat slide from me (where you slide WAY down in your seat so no one can see you in the car.)
I also know how to bake bread from scratch- and not from scratch where you dump the ingredient in the bread machine- I mean grind the flower and kneed the dough “from scratch”.
I know it’s Ok not to know the answer to a question, just so long as you know how to find it.
My mother taught me everything I know! (This statement is a lot funnier to James Heilpern and I than to you. If you’re good I might explain it to you later.)

Don't worry Terra, we all turn into our parents. Just make sure you are turning into the good part. That is what I am trying to do.
