When my siblings and I were younger (I'm not sure how young, but back when $15.00 felt like a fortune) we had a leaf raking business.

Mom kept track of all the expenses and showed us how to do a cash flow sheet as well as chauffeured us to each new client.

We got our bags from City Hall were they gave us bio-degradable bags and we charge $1.00 a bag for raking and packing the bags as full as we could- plus hauling them back to our house where they went into an evergrowing pile of bagged leaves in our back yard (which we would then pile even higher in order to fling ourselves off them.)

I was thinking of all that today while I helped Shellie's mother in law rake the leaves in their front yard.

I pulled out all the tricks we learned to make packing them as slime free as possible and as full as possible.
We developed a way to hold the back open with out feet while we racked leaves into it, minimizing how much we had to actually touch the slimy leaves as well as stop to fix the bag opening every time we had an arm full of slug filled tree refuse.
blegh.

Anyway, between the two of us we finished the front yard and it looks lovely.
It was a really pretty day today.

Ah, I remember that business. Hated it from time to time, but it was a great experience.
